New disc of Rosanne Philippens

“I dreamt at length about forming an ensemble of Dutch top musicians to record the Haydn violin concertos and the arrangement of the Stravinsky Divertimento in a play&direct setting. Empty corona diaries suddenly presented a short-term opportunity. (…) Preparations for the present album have offered us much lightness in the dark months of the corona crisis.”

Winterreise in a warm bed of Strings

It appears that Martijn Cornet (Baritone) and Ragazze Quartet have created something very special indeed. The announcement of this new Channel Classics release has led to articles in national newspapers, various radio show performances & interviews, 5-star reviews, a livestream album release concert, CD of the Week specials, and a TV appearance.

Wim ten Have arranged Schubert’s Winterreise especially for Martijn Cornet and Ragazze Quartet. The performance brings along a “disarming tenderness” (De Gelderlander, 5 STARS).

Iván Fischer’s Mahler Cycle

Mahler’s beauty always hurts. His work has a certain lyricism to it that is incredibly moving. Especially in the slow movements you can hear a certain love, almost a divine kind of love. It flows, endlessly.
– Iván Fischer

Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra conclude their Mahler Cycle with Das Lied von der Erde. Find all of their Mahler recordings here.
