Details
Debussy was strongly attracted by the title 'Images'. He used it for the three groups of three pieces each all of which have meanwhile become a familiar part of the repertoire: the 'Images' I (1905) and 11 (1907) for piano and the 'Trois Images' for orchestra, composed between 1905 and 1912. Less well known is another group of three 'Images' composed as early as 1894, but not published until 1978. For this reason, they are not mentioned in several of the composer's biographies. The word 'oublies' was only added to the title by the publisher, Arthur Hore.

| Biography | Well-known pianist and harpsichordist Jos van Immerseel’s ‘authentic’ interpretations, based on a balanced combination of technique, improvisational talent, and theoretical knowledge, brought him international fame. After working for many years with ad hoc- and guest ensembles, Jos van Immerseel founded an ensemble in 1985 that was better suited to the realization of his musical concepts and the results of his research. At the same time, it was intended to function as an experimental instrument for the testing of theory against practice. This was Anima Eterna. |
