I have bougth a SCE-XE800 from Sony which is capable to read DSD files. But, i had not seen there are two formats for DSD files : DFF - the one you propose - and DSF, which is the format accepted by SCE-XE800. What is the best way to translate from DFF to DSF. The solution i have used so far is to use Audio Gate software from Korg, which is free at the condition to accept a tweet is produced any time you use it for such a purpose.
Do you have another solution ? Do you plan to propose music in both formats ?
Sincerely yours

Hello Bruno,

Yes, you can easily convert a .dff file to .dsf using AudioGate. The .dsf file is a .dff, with a different extension, and added bit assignments for Tagging/Metadata. That's why it converts so rapidly in AudioGate. Software players will play either, but in your instance, you need to create a DSD Disk to play DSD files on the Sony SCE-XE800 player. A DSD Disk by definition, uses only the .dsf file structure.

Channel Classics has been using the latest Pyramix 7 software to create DSD files, which only accommodates .dff. Merging Technologies is scheduled to release the DSD component to Pyramix 8 in April, which will accommodate both .dff and .dsf. It is Jared's intention to begin releasing DSD files in .dsf when that software becomes available.

Thank you for inquiring, and choosing Channel Classics.

Is it still intended to start making files available in dsf as well as dff?

Yes, and the data assembly is a large undertaking. Also, unfortunately the new Pyramix 8.1 while supporting the origination of .dsf, files, does not offer any ID3 metadata Album Publishing support. So the project is ongoing, but is taking longer than planned, or desired.
