Are you planning multi-channel DSD downloads in the future?

If there are DAC's available to play them and enough interest, we can start at any time to offer the multichannel files.

I see multi-channel recordings available as DSD files, but not as FLAC.

Why is that? FLAC supports multi-channel and it's easy to find players for multi-channel FLAC.

My $80 blu-ray player (a Sony BDP-BX510) can play multi-channel 96/24 FLAC files (producing multi-channel PCM on HDMI). No down-mix to stereo, all channels preserved, full bit-rate.

The Roku also plays multi-channel files to HDMI, but down-mixes to stereo. I've reported it, and the Roku product manager promises to get it fixed.

Playing DSD files on the other hand is difficult and expensive.

So how about it? Can we get multi-channel 96/24 FLAC files for download?

Thanks,

Greg

You are the first customer in the 4 years that I have been offering files to actually ask for multichannel files that are not DSD. If you are interested, I am happy to make special mixdowns for you, but I am not going to be putting other format multichannel on the server for so little interest. Maybe you should take a good look around for a different DAC. There are now so many choices and price range available that will get you the actual original format than 96/24. Take a look at the OPPO player.
Please contact me at info@channel.nl and we can talk further

I recently discovered that you can convert multichannel DSD.dsf files to multichannel PCM.flac with JRiver. I have not yet listened to them but I am pretty sure they are fine. If they playback fine, it would make more sense to buy the DSD as an archive, convert them yourself for use with a PCM only DAC if that is what you have or prefer for other reasons.
